For late-diagnosed AuDHD Men

You weren't failing.
You were performing the wrong role.

You kept the mask in place long enough to get through the day. Called it coping. A full-time job nobody hired you for, in a role that was never yours to begin with.

  • You've had the diagnosis. The label arrived. The life didn't change.
  • You've tried the frameworks — GTD, habit stacking, all of it — and watched them break in the same places, for the same reasons.
  • You're done explaining it away. You want to build something that actually fits the brain you have.

  • The diagnosis still feels like an answer rather than a starting point. Stay with that — it matters.
  • You're here hoping someone will reframe the lost decades as a hidden advantage. The cost was real. This book names it as such.
  • The systems you've tried are still holding. Come back when the frameworks have run out. They'll know where to find you.
The Story

You paid for that performance for decades. Showed up. Held the line. Kept the mask in place long enough to get through the day. Called it coping. Didn't even know it was.

A full-time job nobody hired you for, in a role that was never yours to begin with.

"The mask was load-bearing. Built without a manual, under pressure, for decades. That is not weakness. That is engineering."

You built a career. You learned to look calm in meetings. You learned exactly how much eye contact is normal and how to modulate your voice so no one noticed the effort it cost you.

Then the diagnosis arrived. And the label came with it. But the life didn't change — because nobody told you what to do with it. The frameworks you tried were built for a different brain. They broke in the same places, for the same reasons, every time.

This book begins where the diagnosis ends.

About

Oliver Pirie

Author and Founder of the Unmask & Align Method
Late-diagnosed AuDHD
Father of four. Two countries.

I was diagnosed at 50. The letter arrived and I didn't recognise myself in it. It took a book — Gabor Maté's Scattered Minds — to crack something open. For the first time, I wasn't reading about someone else's brain. I was reading about mine.

Before that, I had spent decades in professional roles I was good at and quietly exhausted by. I am AuDHD, and I ran a masked version of myself through every meeting, every deadline, and every performance review for most of my working life without knowing that's what I was doing.

This book is what I needed and couldn't find. Not a framework built for someone else's brain. Not a reframe of the lost decades as secretly useful. An honest account of what masking costs — and what it looks like to stop.

02

Explain yourself to your partner

Language for the gap between what you intend and what lands. Written for both of you. In the same book.

03

Build a system that fits your brain

A five-stage map and practical tools designed for the wiring you actually have — not the one the frameworks assumed.
